Interacting with Service Animals
About this project
Problem: People often interact inappropriately with service animals, which can put their handlers in uncomfortable and unsafe situations. This is due to a lack of understanding of how service animals function and a lack of knowledge about the laws and etiquette for interacting with their handlers.
Solution: A course on how to interact with service animals, with background information and opportunities to practice, using Articulate Storyline and Rise.
Audience: Members of the general public, primarily Virginia residents, who have good intentions but lack knowledge about service animals.
Subject matter expert (SME): Service dog handler who identified the problem. SME shared resources and provided feedback throughout the process.
My role: Designing and developing all parts of the course, using resources and feedback I received.
Challenges: Making complex legal information accessible and engaging, selecting relevant details, and developing a range of engaging practice scenarios.
